The application round for winter semester 2010 is closed now. The deadline for applications for the winter semester 2011/2012 is May 15, 2011.

If you wish to apply for the DAAD scholarship for young professionals from developing countries, the next deadline is October 15, 2011, for the intake wintersemester 2011. For more information on the application procedure and scholarship requirements, check our scholarship section.

During the weekend from the 15th to the 17th of April, Freiburg University hosted the third Freiburg Forum on Environmental Governance. The 2010 edition entitled “The Role of New Media in Environmental Governance” was organized entirely by the students of the MEG 4 generation, as part of their study programme (Student Organized Event). A new addition to the event was to combine the Forum with a MEG-alumni meeting made possible thanks to DAAD funding. 42 MEG alumni traveled to Freiburg to meet their former colleagues but also to share their life and work experiences with current students. The role of new media in environmental governance, 15-17 April 2010, Freiburg

The Freiburg Forum on Environmental Governance 2010 will discuss the role of new media in environmental governance in a reflexive way and it will provide participants with a platform to share experiences on high-tech and no-tech forms of effective social networking.

From the 15-17 of February 2010, MEG students participated in an excursion to visit prominent international organizations in Geneva.  Students were presented with insider information, and expert panel discussion with various UN agencies, the World Trade Organisation (WTO), IUCN, and NGO’s. MEG Intercultural Team-building Weekend 2009

As in previous year, this years MEG class had the opportunity to explore the dynamics of multi-cultural teams, with a professional team-builder from SPICE consulting from Dec 12-13, 2009.  An added bonus this year: the workshop was held in the Faculty’s seminar house on the Schauinsland Mountain in the Black Forest, and included an overnight stay fully catered with traditional German food.  Read more and see pictures...

Leonora Lorena, a MEG student from Portugal, was awarded the DAAD prize for excellent achievement of international students.  This prize, which is endowed with a 1000 Euro, is awarded once a year to an international student who not only demonstrates excellent academic achievement, but is also exemplary in his/her commitment to society and intercultural activities.
