About Us

Freiburg Scientific Theatre

We are a group of young and passionate students from the MSc Environmental Governance at the University of Freiburg, with an international and interdisciplinary background.  We developed our Scientific Theatre as part of the 5th Freiburg Forum on Environmental Governance, presented in March 2012.

We have significant experience in the field of global environmental governance, and through the medium of Scientific Theatre, we aim to invigorate this scientific discourse by initiating and contributing to debate and discussion on various aspects of sustainable development across diverse audiences, in particular academic settings such as conferences, seminars and workshops.

Our methods are both flexible and interactive.  We are happy to shape our performance to suit the specific theme of the particular event at which we are performing, and welcome audience discussion and participation in our performances.

The current members of Freiburg Scientific Theatre are Griselda Bereciartu, Andrea Braun, Ilina Dimitrova, Brendan Dobbie, Torben Floerkemeier, Sadhbh Juarez Bourke, Carla Soldan and Olga Weigel.

The Masters in Environmental Governance

Unique worldwide, the interdisciplinary Masters in Environmental Governance (MEG) was established in 2005 by the University of Freiburg to train future leaders to facilitate environmental governance with consideration of market, state and civil society forces. A maximum of 30 students are selected each year in a highly competitive procedure based on criteria of excellence and geographical representation. So far representatives from 29 countries have taken part in the program, contributing to its unique intercultural atmosphere.
