MEG Students Construct Bridge to Intercultural Team-Building Success
The weekend of the 4th and 5th of December saw the intrepid MEG 6 class trek deep into the wintery heart of the Black Forest for a series of workshops and skill sharpening exercises on the intricacies of team work in a multicultural setting. In what has now become an annual event, the MEGs were treated to the warm hospitality of the Uni-Haus on Schauinsland Mountain and guided by the expert tutelage of professional team-building consultant Dr Angelina Topan. On Tuesday, 7 December 2010, the MEG students joined with their fellow masters students in the Forest Ecology and Management (FEM) and Renewable Energy Management (REM) programs to celebrate the holiday season at the annual faculty Christmas party. The event was held in the historic Peterhofkeller and included, courtesy of the students, live music and dance performances. To read more and see pictures click here.

Over the weekend of 20 and 21 November 2010 the new MEG 6 generation travelled with their immediate predecessors, the MEG 5 generation, to the Uni-Haus on Schauinsland Mountain in the Black Forest. The purpose of the weekend was to give the two current MEG generations a chance to get to know each other and share experiences. During the weekend the MEG 5s also gave presentions about their recently completed internships, which proved invaluable for the new MEGs who are presently faced with the task of applying for their own internships. During the weekend from the 15th to the 17th of April, Freiburg University hosted the third Freiburg Forum on Environmental Governance. The 2010 edition entitled “The Role of New Media in Environmental Governance” was organized entirely by the students of the MEG 4 generation, as part of their study programme (Student Organized Event). A new addition to the event was to combine the Forum with a MEG-alumni meeting made possible thanks to DAAD funding. 42 MEG alumni traveled to Freiburg to meet their former colleagues but also to share their life and work experiences with current students. The role of new media in environmental governance, 15-17 April 2010, Freiburg
The Freiburg Forum on Environmental Governance 2010 will discuss the role of new media in environmental governance in a reflexive way and it will provide participants with a platform to share experiences on high-tech and no-tech forms of effective social networking.

From the 15-17 of February 2010, MEG students participated in an excursion to visit prominent international organizations in Geneva. Students were presented with insider information, and expert panel discussion with various UN agencies, the World Trade Organisation (WTO), IUCN, and NGO’s. Read more...
